It sounds more like a problem with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) than the laptop. You can sometimes solve it by using another DNS server such as OpenDNS. Also, if you use a router at home, try switching it off for a few minutes.

It works here so it does seem like a DNS routing problem. You and Enid/Ray are on the same ISP but Ken is on a different one. I didn't mention them for security reasons.

It may be a national problem but it can also happen when a site is moved to a different server but that normally resolves itself within 24 hours. Another rare possibility is that the site has incorrectly been tagged as a spam / rogue site and has been blocked, it has been known to happen. I doubt it's the latter though.

I had this problem some time ago with another site. Try putting in the openDNS settings from this link to see if it gets you around the problem.

I can't get the RHDS website and I'm with Virgin broadband too.

I typed, 'can't get website' into google and tried loads of suggestions but had no luck.
If anyone can get the Redditch website can they keep us updated on any important club news on this (equally wonderful) website. Cheers!

Just a thought, but you can get the internet through your mobile phone for about £5 per month. That might work as a temporary fix.

Hi, Seems to be a problem with Virgin as everyone effected that I know off are on Virgin media, I have not had any problems what so ever and i'm on talktalk, Have had a quick look on the internet and theres quite a few customers unhappy with virgin DNS problems, Try this fix hope it works for you, found it on a forum:

We have what appears to be a fix for failures in Lookups. Go to the settings for your internet connection (the tcp/ip seetings) and change the DNS settings from auto to manual. Type in the following ip addresses for virgins dns servers:

194.168.4.100
194.168.8.100

this seems to sort the problem although we are not certain why. I surmise that one or other server is faulty, and that the automatic setting roots you to the faulty server by default

Regards,

Webmaster
