I picked up this cheap radio reciever from Maplins for £14.99.
It's very bulky for a hand held, but it does provide a cheap way of picking up Airband and CB.
Specifications: Moonraker M8
Airband 110 -136MHz
Marine Band 137 - 175MHz
Citizen Band channel 1 - 80
FM 88 - 108 MHz
TV-1 54 - 87 MHz
Takes 4 X AA or DC 6v power supply. |

Built down to a price but still pretty good value and useful. The cheaper radios tend to have lower cost filtering so their selectivity of picking out signals from one another is not as good. _________________

It's certainly not the easiest radio to tune. The problem is that the tuning dial is too small but the frequency change is too big. However, once it's tuned in the signal stays pretty solid and doesn't drift.
I've another radio on it's way, this time a digital short wave. I'm not ready to spend too much on radio's yet, just messing around with budget stuff. I can see me wanting to invest in something more expensive in the future though. |
